What is Change?

Change can be very scary!!

Change is good!!

"I don't do well with change".....however, change is needed in the world all the time. Take trees for example, every season they "change". In Spring they start to bloom, they start to bud by the summer they are in full blossom. In Autumn, their leaves will change colour and shed their leaves so by the winter they are bare, nearly "asleep" but still alive.

So, as you can see change is needed even in Nature herself!

How do we get through a change we need to do or we choose to do?

If a change in our lives confronts us which we can not do anything about in a nutshell, we have to deal with it! It can be scary, frightening, all of those feelings which we don't like. The butterflies in your stomach, the churning feeling, the tightness in your throat to the point we feel we are unable to breath. the tightness in your chest. These feeling are all too common when there is a change we have to face in our lives and we can not do anything about it.

As a result of this, our brick wall  comes up we are reluctant to accept it, but accept we have to. But how?

Firstly, what is stopping us? How bad is the change? Turn on our realistic brain and think through the solution.

A great example is, when we are at work we've worked out in our head exactly what we're going to do and how we're going to do it and when.

Next thing, your boss has got other plans for you.

Everything you have planned for the day has now gone completely out the window! That churning feeling starts in the pit of your stomach, your brain is completely on overwhelm. Your breathing becomes quicker!

WHAT THE "?ELL!!?"

Deep breathe and again!

Acceptance

Right! I accept everything I had planned for today is not going to happen.

This feeling I have in my stomach? What is going on there?

Too much to do? Don't like what he's asked me to do.....but still have to do it!

You feel like you have no control over the situation....to a point you haven't.

But that is not to say, you can not take control again.

Do you tell the boss where to stick his job, of course not! That would be you taking control, but, that would not benefit you in the long run financially.

You ask your boss what he would like doing and you work through it step by step. The more you tell yourself, "I hate doing this!", "I don't want to do this" the more you won't want to do it. Which, in the long run, will take you a lot longer than it should through your resistance.

This is you taking your control back. It may not seem it but it's the little positive voice in your head over riding the little, "I don't want to do this crap." voice.

As a result of this negative change, we can turn it into a positive one through acceptance and positivity.

Making your day, so much easier to get through.

I know this seems very menial or small to a lot  of people but, to others, it can be a real big deal.

Remember, life is about change, for mental growth, to becoming the best version of ourselves. To get us out of a rut we have gotten into for one reason or another.

Hope this helps.

Setting goals - 5 steps to SMART goals

Ever since my Dad died when I was 17yrs old, setting goals for myself was always difficult. I could never envision what I wanted out of life. Plan for the future. Until I met my husband, then I had a wedding to plan, even that came with its challenges, when he was in and out of work. However, we made it and had the best day ever.
